Today I went with a friend (Lindy) to the Santa Shuffle 5K. I was a little hesitant because it meant that I would have to get up at 5:30 a.m. and go run in the freezing cold. I was sold though when she told me it benefited the Make A Wish Foundation.
I was pleasantly surprised with the run (although it was still freezing). Lindy had purchased Santa hats, and I layered up and had a really fun time. I paced myself with this lady who had bells on her shoes which kept my mind distracted. I ended up surprisng myself and doing pretty well, and I even qualified for the DC half marathon (which I will not be doing, just in case you were wondering).
To be honest, I dont enjoy running. It is more of a mind game to me, and I eventually lose to boredom. Though today I had a really fun time, and will probably do a couple of more 5Ks in the coming year.

That sounds like it was a ton of fun! I think 5K tends to be the perfect amount. And it was for a good cause, that makes it even better
My goal is do ONE 5K this next year... I despise running. I like working out, but not running... It's too tedious.
However, I made a goal the last few weeks to jog a bit more and run at least one 5K before I die... I figure I can bump that up to, "in the next year."
*muah*
P.S. LOVE the DC Christmas lights! I haven't been since I was little, but I still recall how much I loved them each year... :)
