Idina Menzel Concert with the National Symphony Orchestra

To be honest, I had never heard of Idina Menzel before. I have seeen wicked, and enjoy the play Rent, plus I have a co-worker who is in love with 'Glee' and so it is a wonder that it took me this long to figure out she is.

A friend in the ward had an extra ticket to the show, and although I was swamped with work, I agreed to go. She told me that we were going to see Idina Menzel sing with the National Symphony Orchestra, and I figured it was an Opera show of the sorts. However, I was pleasently surprised when we arrived and I read the program. It turned out to be an amazing conert. I was very glad that I was able to attend.

This is the fourth time I have heard the National Symphony play, twice in the Concert Hall. That is one of the great things about living in DC, plus often they have free shows where anyone can go and enjoy.

In case you are like me and have no idea who Idina is... she played in Rent, Wicked, Enchanted, and was on Glee. Here are a couple of shots:

She was very funny. It was a great show. She sang a couple of songs from Wicked, as well as Poker Face from Glee (which she made fun of). She also told a ton of funny stories in between each song. She really made the whole show.

Here is she is (in the green). She sang 'Defying Gravity, and a couple of other noteworthy songs from Wicked. It turned out to be a great evening, again, one in which I was glad to have been in attendance.

I'm a little slow reading your blog, Chance. I just got tickets for this show in NYC when she'll sing with the NY Philharmonic. Glad to know it will be a good one!
